We Value All in the Name of Jesus the Christ

Cornerstones Curriculum

Here at St. Joseph's we follow the Cornerstones Curriculum for all subjects other than Literacy, Maths, RE & PE.

Cornerstones is a broad and balanced, knowledge and skills based curriculum with a creative edge.  Each topic taught lasts for one half term and always begins with an engaging activity, whether that be a trip, a visitor in school or an exciting demonstration or outside lesson to bring the topic to life and enthuse the children's interests.

All lessons are mapped to SMSC skills which includes aspects of the fundamental British values of:

  • democracy
  • the rule of law
  • individual liberty
  • mutual respect for and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs and for those without faith

Each year group has chosen 6 topics for the year and you can see these below.
