We Value All in the Name of Jesus the Christ

The Spirit of the Games

At St Joseph's, our children strive to be the very best sports person they can be within school PE lessons, on the playground and at local sporting events. We promise to uphold these six values in every sporting activity we participate in, especially when we represent our school at inter-house competitions.

Y5 Dodgeball

Our Y5 team really have made us so proud. They placed 3rd in their dodgeball tournament. Bronze winners! They were great role models of determination and self-belief.

Y4 Dodgeball

Extremely proud of the Y4 dodgeball team who (out of 14 teams) were the team chosen as the one who most embodied the school games value of honesty by Mr Dobbs who awarded them with these medals. A credit to our school, we are so proud of you

Indoor Athletics

Years 3 and 4 attended an inter-house competition at Franklin College. These little, amazing athletes all showed great passion - well done St Joes!

This year we have been involved in a number of sporting fixture, at which the behaviour has been exemplary of our pupils and we were very proud of them We also have a lot more coming up.

During the cross-country our children showed great resilience and determination pushing through a long run to achieve our school’s best rankings with Ella in Y6 placing 19th out of 120 and Charlie M achieving 30th out of 150!

A huge well done to all who took part!

Year 6 athletics

We took year 6 to Grimsby Institute to participate in the indoor athletics competition.  They came 7th overall (our best ever ranking) and the girls relay team came 1st in their heat, but more importantly they cheered on each other and everyone else showing brilliant team spirit but also a great sporting attitude. Well done Year 6!

Year 1 Kwik cricket

This term Year 1 were entered in a Kwik cricket tournament.  Twenty children went and experienced their first competition.  They learnt lots of new skills and had lots of fun.  They listened to all of the advice they were given and made some fabulous progress in their throwing and catching but also in their striking skills.  Great job year one!

Year 4 Dodgeball

Year 4 were given the opportunity to represent St Joseph’s at indoor dodgeball. The children were put into teams of 6 and played their socks off all afternoon. They had absolutely fantastic attitudes and really showed outstanding sportsmanship. I was really proud to be there with them and witness their enthusiasm and excitement. Well done year 4.

SSP Indoor Athletics

Year 5 recently represented St Joseph’s in SSP Sports Hall Athletics at Grimsby Institute. The whole class participated in a variety of running, jumping and throwing events including javelin, chest push, standing long jump, obstacle races and relay runs. The children’s behavior, enthusiasm and sportsmanship were outstanding and really reflected our schools ethos and mission. Well done year 5!
