Modern Foreign Language
As part of the National Curriculum, KS2 are required to teach the children a foreign language. As a school we have chosen to teach French, in which the children extend their knowledge of how language works and explore differences between French and English. They will strengthen their sense of identity through learning about culture in Francophone countries and comparing it with their own culture.
The development of learning a foreign language supports fluency and understanding of grammar, syntax, sentence structure and verbal precision. Increased proficiency in the use of languages can also stimulate creativity and independent learning and encourages diversity within society.
