SMSC stands for Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural education and is a broad ranging subject that is covered in many curricular areas and in discrete series of lessons. We follow the Go Givers curriculum alongside the PSHCE work in the Cornerstones Curriculum. It is a subject that teaches children about the world in which we live and about the fundamental British values of democaracy, rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect and tolerance for those with religious views that are different to our own.
Teaching of SMSC
SMSC is usually taught in short lessons that follow a series and that allow children to learn about the world and how to treat others in it. It is also often a focus of our Feel Good Friday activities and of special days celebrated in school such as elections, jubilees etc.
